Department of Archaeology

Buying and selling archaeological artefacts at auction - free valuations - expert reports and technical and scientific analysis of objects of archaeological interest.

Directed by Andrea Pancotti, the Department of Archaeology finds and proposes archaeological finds - also collections - from prehistory to the dawn of the Middle Ages, with particular interest in artifacts related to the Greek civilization, the Etruscan and Italic civilizations, the Roman and Byzantine world.

Its main task is the study, cataloguing, valuation and placement on the Italian and foreign markets of archaeological finds on consignment.
In parallel, the department offers a specialised appraisal service for objects of archaeological interest that makes use of the most advanced survey techniques and machinery. In addition, all lots with a maximum estimate of € 1,500 or more are checked against the Art Loss Register database.

Andrea Pancotti is an archaeologist specialized in topography of ancient Italy. Member of the Italian Academy of Numismatic Studies, member of the editorial committee of the "Bollettino dell'Unione Storia ed Arte", he has to his credit numerous scientific publications in the historical-archaeological field.
