Group of six small bronzes depicting St. Peter and Paul, Christ, Christ and the Magdalene, St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary. They probably belonged to an altar in which they woud have been placed in small niches. They may also have belonged in a coin cabinet with a religious purpose. It is rare to find this style of sculptures in a large group, as is the case in this particular bronze.
Made in a pure neoclassical style, they are beautifully gilded, in probably mercury, with some minor abrasions. Please note the intricate detail of some attributes, such as St. Peter’s keys, were made separately and subsequently placed in his hands.
