Skater, France 18th-19th century

Bronze, natural gold patina, traces of dark patina
17x9,5x9 cm

Delightful French-style bronze depicting a young boy in the act of putting on ice skates.

This genre scene is inspired by contemporary paintings of Fragonard and Boucher and by bisque porcelain sculptures created by Boizot for the Royal Sèvres Factory.

Similar decorative bronze sculptures were widely popular in the 19th century. Based on its quality and patina, this one could be slightly earlier.
