French silver cocholate pot - Saint-Quentin 1752-1755, mark of ADRIEN DACHERY

pyriform body with plain surface and engraved coat of arms resting on three feet, beak-shaped spout adhered to the body with foliate decoration, foliate volute thumb piece with turned wooden side handle. In the centre of the hinged lid a pommel topping conceals a hole for the carved wooden whisk used to keep the chocolate from becoming too thick. Hallmarked with the silver hallmarks in use at Saint-Quintin in the jurisdiction of Amien from 1752 to 1755, with the countermark in use from 1750 to 1766 and with the hallmark of master silversmith Adrien Dachery (patented in 1730).

Diameter 13 cm, height 25.5 cm, width with handle 25 cm. Weight 1040 g.
