This fine unpublished painting constitutes, in our opinion, a significant addition to Micco Spadaro's catalog, in the relevant segment of his production related to paintings of sacred subject of private destination. We have here an essay of Gargiulo's predilection and renowned virtue in the invention of scenes teeming with figures, rendered with brilliant dynamism and refined variety of poses and attitudes, as well as as an imaginative landscape painter. As terms of comparison within the painter's catalog one can point out here, among others, the

Moses makes water spring from the rock in a private Neapolitan collection (Sestieri - Daprà, nos. 153-154, pp. 304-305) or the
Preaching of the Baptist, also in a private Neapolitan collection (Id., no. 167, pp. 319-320).
