A pair of large silver lanterns, Rome, early 19th century

Height x width x depth: 85 x 15.5 x 15.5 cm. Total weight: ca. 2350 g.

Cast, embossed and chased silver, the body decorated with floral festoons surmounted by winged putti; acorn finals.
Hallmarked with the chamber marks with tiara and decussate keys in use in Rome from 1815 to 1870 for 10 ounces and 16 denari (889/1000) and with the mark of the silversmith Vincenzo II Belli (1828-1859) nephew of Gioacchino Belli (1787-1822) represented by the initials 'G II B' within a vertical lozenge.

Item condition grading: **** good, minor wears comensurate with age and use.
