Excerpt from Elena Gigli's authentication: "[...] In a high and impetuous blaze of reds, in this canvas Balla studies Giuliana Canuzzi's face, colonel's daughter who lives on the second floor of via Oslavia 39B: it is possible to recognize the fan she is holding in her hand at the bottom right. We find the same approach in the large canvas entitled Autumn of 1940 where Balla depicts full-length Juliana holding a fan wrapped in a blaze of red veils [...]".
