Jasjyot Singh Hans is an illustrator unendingly inspired by an explosive neon mix of fashion, music and pop culture. He has a constant regard for things past and a voracity for all that is current. His work chronicles themes of body image, sexuality and self-love.
Hansβ work has been exhibited around the US and some of the most recent shows include Context Art Miami, Hashimoto Gallery, New York, 2021; Spring Salon Show, Superchief Gallery, New York, 2021, Red Light Honey, Mortal Machine Gallery, Louisiana, SALUT! 5 Coaster Show, Nucleus Gallery, Oregon, 2020; and TEN: 10 years of Paradigm, Paradigm Gallery, Pennsylvania, 2020.
The drawings presented here are part of a series. The series is a celebration of Hansβ love for camp, drag, glamour as it pertains to queer and femme identities. Each piece is an exploration of the fantasy of fashion and form. Though the series borrows heavily from the fetish vocabulary with figures bathed in glossy vinyl, they are not the fetishized object but governors of their own identities.
