Cardboard binding from the end of the 19th century
Rare text dedicated to the use of the armometer, instrument or monochord for the measurement of the harmonic relationships of sounds, in order to improve and simplify musical notation with numbers. The device, a mechanical apparatus that uses pendulums to create a geometric image, began to appear in the mid-19th century and became very popular in the 1890s.
There is a manuscript sheet, placed immediately before of the tables, which could presumably have been drawn up by the author but we are not certain.
