CABEO NICCOLO. PHILOSOPHIA MAGNETICA in qua magnetis natura penitus explicatur, et omnium quae hoc lapide cernuntur causae propriae afferuntur. Ferrara 1629
In folio [16], 412, [12]pp. Complete
First edition.
This is the second work in Latin on electricity, after Gilbert's De magnete of 1600. Cabeo was the first to observe electrical repulsion and opposed Gilbert's views on terrestrial magnetism.
There appears to have been an edition published at the same time in Cologne by Johann Kinck; copies of the Ferrara edition sometimes include the printed title page of this edition, in addition to the engraved title page, which is present in our copy even if detached from the volume.
