Large French silver coffee pot, Paris 1798-1809

Height x diameter: 30.5 x 11 cm. Weight 986 g.

plain ovoid body resting on three small feet with hoofed ends and laurel-leaf upper attachment; spout in the shape of a raptor's head, hinged lid with pine-cone finial, ebony loop handle. 950/1000 silver, hallmarked with the marks for silver at the first standard in use in Paris from 1798 to 1809, with the unofficial hallmark used by the Association des Orfรฉvres in Paris for a silver fineness of 950/1000 "head of a Greek woman with letter P" "boar's head" and with the initials J.N.B. of silversmith Jean-Nicolas Boulanger.

Item condtion grading: **** good, signs of use commensurate with use over time.
