N. X. Gouilin

Large French silver coffee pot, Paris, 1809-1819

Height x diameter 32 x 11 cm. Weight 932 g.

plain ovoid body with noble crest resting on three ferine feet and upper attachment with female figure flanked by cornucopias and a vase of flowers above,  tapered neck with moulded pourer and zoomorphic spout. Hinged lid with acorn grip, ebony handle. hallmarked with the marks for silver at the first standard in use in Paris from 1809 to 1819, with the unofficial hallmark used by the Association des Orfรฉvres in Paris for a silver fineness of 950/1000 "head of a Greek woman with letter P" and with the silversmith's initials N.X.G. of silversmith N. X. Gouilin with workshop in Paris, 11 Place Thionville.

Item condtion grading: **** good, signs of use commensurate with use over time.
