French silver coffee pot, Paris, 1819-1838
Height x diameter: 25 x 9.6 cm Weight: 648 g
smooth ovoid body with noble crest resting on three ferine feet and palmette upper attachment, tapered neck with moulded pourer and zoomorphic spout. Hinged lid with pinecone grip, ebony handle. 950/1000 silver, hallmarked with the marks for silver at the first standard in use in Paris from 1819 to 1838, with the unofficial hallmark used by the Association des Orfรฉvres in Paris for a silver fineness of 950/1000 "head of a Greek woman with number 1" and with the silversmith's initials S.S. for Sixte-Simon Rion.
Item condtion grading: **** good, signs of use commensurate with use over time.
