Hinged lid with pinecone grip, ebony handle. 950/1000 silver, hallmarked with the marks for silver at the first standard in use in Paris from 1819 to 1838, with the unofficial hallmark used by the Association des Orfรฉvres in Paris for a silver fineness of 950/1000 "head of a Greek woman with number 1" and with the silversmith's initials S.S. for Sixte-Simon Rion.
