Sicilian wooden almoner depicting Saint Albert, Trapani, 17th-18th century

Height x width x depth: 39 x 13 x 9.5 cm. Weight 1380 g

Wooden sculpture resting on an octagonal plinth depicting the saint with the cross and the halo. On the front the alms slot and a silver cartouche with the inscription 'ET CURAVIT - Matt. 12', hallmarked  with the mark of the Trapani 'bulla' in use from the 17th century onwards, depicting the scythe (inlet reproducing the port of Trapani) surmounted by a crown and, below, D.U.I. (Depranum Urbs Invictissima) and the mark 'C A' of an unidentified silversmith.
On the reverse an opening with a keyhole.

Item condition grading: **** good, minor signs of use commensurate with use over time, lock missing.
