Rare English Victorian sterling silver inkwell, London 1843-1844

Height x width x depth: 10 x 32 x 26 cm. Total weight 1800 g.

silver-gilt; rectangular tray with a border with floral and foliate ornament which continues on the four feet; fitted with three cylindrical holders, for a detachable taper stick in the centre, flanked by a pair of cut-glass pots for ink and sand, each with silver-gilt liid. At the front, a pen trough, with a family Crest; hallmarks and maker's mark; in original tooled and gilded leather case. Sterling silver, fully hallmarked London 1843-44, silversmith William Cumming.
