Alfonso XIII of Spain, son of Alfonso XII, became king of Spain at his birth, although he only assumed power in 1902 (his mother Maria Christina of Habsburg-Teschen held the regency from 1885 to 1902). He was deposed on 14 April 1931. For some French monarchists, he was also a legitimist pretender to the throne of France and Navarre with the name of Alfonso I
