Plaque commemorating the foundation of the Empire in Africa in 1936. It depicts a soldier in a colonial uniform, armed with a musket and spade, with the inscriptions THE ITALIAN PEOPLE HAVE CREATED THEIR EMPIRE WITH BLOOD AND WILL FERTILIZE IT WITH WORK - MUSSOLINI - ROME 9 MAY 1936 A.XIIII E.F. (On May 9, Mussolini announced the foundation of the empire: Vittorio Emanuele III assumed the title of emperor of Ethiopia, while General Badoglio was appointed viceroy of Ethiopia and governor general of Italian East Africa).
