Pasolini, Pier Paolo (Bologna, 5 marzo 1922 – Ostia, Roma, 2 novembre 1975)

As is known, Pasolini was unfortunately murdered on the night between 1 and 2 November 1975 in Ostia (Rome) and therefore never took part in the match, which was in fact never played.

The poster features a beautiful photographic image in the center which portrays Pasolini on the left wearing the national Singers and Actors shirt, while he warms up by playing football with Paolo Villaggio, on the right.

«At the Trullo the sun like ten years ago. “Stop, Dad. give us a hard time with us!”». This was the call of the young people of life, when they invited Pier Paolo Pasolini to join them in those improvised matches on the dusty fields of the Roman villages. It was the football he loved most, the one freely inspired: the "double step" of his idol of youth, the world champion (in 1938) Amedeo Biavati, and dribbling, the essence of the ancestral "poetry football", practiced by the Brazilians. In the game of football, Pasolini found a language, a form of expression that was absolutely complementary to literature as a child. So much so that for him footballers are essentially "22 podemes" (just like phonemes) on the pitch, and their combinations form "football words". This is the theory of the only true "goal poet" who loved going to the stadium, but first of all playing. <...> The poet's swan song in the field of the disappearance of the fireflies and the corsair writings took place in Trapani, on 4 May 1975, in what Salvatore Mugno portrayed in Pasolini's Last Game (Alternative Press). Ninetto was there in Trapani - «I played my usual game as a defensive “badass”, shirt no.3» - and with Bruno Filippini, Don Backy and the former Roma center forward, Pedro Manfredini, known as “Piedone”, Pasolini conquered his last victory, and perhaps even his final smile. Murdered on the night between 1 and 2 November 1975, the body was found on Sunday, the day dedicated to the football god. Two days later they were still waiting for him in Sicily, at the Favorita in Palermo, to see him dart around the wing wearing the No.11 shirt. «I put that shirt in his coffin – says Davoli with emotion – Pier Paolo would have liked it». It's the right term, because before leaving in an interview with Enzo Biagi, Pasolini confessed: «After literature and eros, for me football is one of the great pleasures».
