French bronze and marble mantel clock, Mid-19th Century

Height x width x depth: 85 x 128 x 70 cm

alps green marble base, above which is a patinated bronze bust of a young woman. Circular white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and two winding holes, spring-suspended movement with pendulum regulator and hour and half-hour strike on bell signed "V. Paillard".  Victor Paillard (1805-1886), one of the greatest bronze craftsmen of the 19th century, founded his house of bronzes and furniture in 1835 and won the gold medal at the St. Petersburg Exhibition in 1849 and the London Exhibition in 1851.
