Signed on the bottom: Futur Balla, on the back Pugno di Boccioni blue stamp
Excerpt from Elena Gigli's authentication: "[...]In this project, Balla develops a motif that he will use repetitively specially in sheet no. 12 of the Album di motivi per stoffe and in the 1929 canvas Equilibrio Spaziale no. 34 (formerly Casa Balla no. 333). Even if in the square image the spatial balance is emphasised by two black and white spheres that interpenetrate with the two swirling circular motifs in blue, in this lampshade design the iconography of the two spheres of the Equilibrio Spaziale is concentrated on the three swirling hook motifs in blue in order to emphasise the conical shape of the lampshade. In this sense, as Calvesi wrote, "The conical or half-moon shape of the sheet to be rolled up, supports the screwing, the spiral projects".
