This fine marble head belonged to a bust or an entire sculpture from which it was dismantled. There are no signs of breakage, but inside the neck we notice a square hollow which probably held a metal pin that fixed the head to the trunk.
It can be compared to Giambologna's bronze in the Michael Hall's collection.
