The horse repeats the equestrian statue of Cosimo I de' Medici, located in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. Giambologna successors' foundry, such as Antonio Susini, created little models inspired by that monumental sculpture.
Fine and well-finished fusion with light transparent patina in golden tones, typical of ancient Tuscan production. Similar model can be found in Victoria and Albert Museum, attributed to Antonio Susini.
With non-coeval base in wood and ruin marble.
