Bust of Charles V, Probably 18th century

Bronze, reddish transparent patina with black traces
sculpture: 21 x 15 x 9 cm

This bust represents Emperor Charles V in armor with the Golden Todon hanging around his neck. The sculptor Leone Leoni created various extraordinary portraits of the emperor both in full figure (Prado Museum, Madrid) and in bust form.

The bust is identical to the one kept in the National Museum in Liverpool (WAG 6235) and cataloged as a derivation from the Leone Leoni's model in the Bode Museum in Berlin.
