Pair of four-light candlesticks, France, 18th-19th century
Gilt bronze
71 x 13 x 9 cm
Fine pair of sculptural candlesticks composed of a nymph and a satyr holding a stem with the candle holders.
The quality of these two bronzes places them between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. True masterpieces, they were produced by artistic foundries often linked to the Crown of France.
In a chapter of the Encyclopedia dedicated to lighting, a similar candlestick with the satyr is reproduced.
