SEVERO CALZETTA DA RAVENNA (Ravenna 1465-1543), SCUOLA DI, XVII SECOLO
in the way of
Acrobat, 18th-19th century
Bronze with black patina
20 x 12 x 10 cm
This object is inspired by a famous lamp attributed originally to Andrea Briosco known as Riccio, but now considered from the Severo da Ravenna's workshop. Even though it is not a bronze, it is inspired by that Renaissance production of Padua.
The workmanship and the patina suggest it was made between the end of the 18th century and the middle of the 19th century. The work is highly original and the mask decorating the base, seenu upside down, transform into bucrania.
