The painting bears an old relining possibly dating to the first half of the 19th century.
The canvas bears on the back the brushstroke inscription: "SOI FARINELLO", reproduced from the original canvas on the relined one, which testifies to the presence of the work in the collection of the famous castrato singer Carlo Maria Broschi, universally known by the pseudonym Farinelli or Farinello, and which can be found in other works he owned.
