Oil on canvas
cm. 123x97. Framed

The painting is on first canvas and bears a brush inscription on the original frame: "THIS PAINTING IS A GIFT OF MONSIG. LEONARDI BISHOP OF ASCOLI TO [...] LORENZO GERALDINI".

The painting bears a clear formal relationship to the figure of San Pietro che battezza il centurione Cornelio, now in the Pinacoteca Civica in Iesi, a preparatory sketch for one of the mosaic lunettes decorating the vestibule of the Cappella del Battesimo in San Pietro in the Vatican.
