Hercules and Cacus

from a series of six Herculean subjects after Rosso Fiorentino.

Engraving, 224 x 181 mm (plate), 284 x 227 mm (sheet). Intermediate state between I and II, before the Salamanca address but with plate damaged at top left. Bartsch XV.86.49.

Very fine impression with plate-tone, printed on thin laid paper with watermark (kneeling pilgrim in the circle). Copy with wide margins. Sheet in excellent condition, except for traces of a horizontal and a vertical fold. Applied to a modern passe-partout.
