Born in Caracas in 1950, he briefly studied fine arts at the Escuela Cristóbal Rojas, before graduating in graphic design at the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas. Even before graduating, Chacón had a solo exhibition at Galería Gamma in Caracas and participated in group exhibitions at Salón Círculo Pez Dorado, Salón de la Joven Pintura, Festival de Zapato Roto, Galería El Muro, Galería Estudio Actual and XXVIII Salón Arturo Michelena, all in Venezuela. In 1971, Chacón continued his studies in London at the London College of Printing. In 1977, he became a professor at the Instituto de Diseño, his university. Sigfredo Chacón is known as one of Venezuela's best graphic designers. Some of his works can now be seen at the MoMA in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas and the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia. Currently, the artist also lives and works outside Venezuela.
