Venetian 17th century with the first Italian version of the severe commentary expressed regarding the consequences of colonization on the local populations by Bartolomé de Las Casas (1474-1566), the Spanish Catholic bishop committed to the defense of the Native Americans; the author was also a witness to the events of Christopher Columbus' last voyage (1502) to the West Indies, of which he transcribed the Logbook of the navigation from Spain to Central America. With a typ. mark on the title page, text in 2 columns printed in Spanish and Italian, refined woodcut decorations. nt Copy with restoration on the edges of the front page, a slight diffuse halo.
