Old original edition from 1710, printed in Rome by the brothers Michel'Angelo and Pietro Vincenzo de' Rossi. Title page printed in red and black with typographical device (Pax Romana symbol). Italian text. With numerous woodcut figures in the text, numerous epigraphs and 22 folding chalcographic plates outside the text (depicting sacred/religious scenes from the catacombs). Work of the Italian historian and archaeologist Antonio Bosio (1575-1629), augmented by the theologian Giovanni Severano (1562-1640).
