Second Latin edition of Dodoens's work, as well as his "last and most comprehensive botanical work" (Hunt). This edition includes a greater number of illustrations than the first. Plantin purchased some of the woodcuts, the others were carved by the artist Pieter van der Brocht whose collection, preserved in Berlin, constitutes one of the most important collections of botanical illustrations of the 16th century still in existence.
