Famous work by the ancient Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso (43 BC - 17-18 BC). Translated entirely into Italian by the poet and translator Clemente Bondi (1742-1821). Bondi was especially appreciated for his translations of classical texts: the Aeneid, the Georgics and Bucolics of Virgil, The Metamorphoses of Ovid. His work was also appreciated for the rich explanatory notes that accompanied his translations, so much so that he was nicknamed the Delille of Italy. A Jesuit priest, he was, together with Giambattista Bodoni, one of the men of letters who collaborated at the ducal printing house of Parma.
