Format in-8°, mm. 185x130, pp. Lxiv, 143. Contemporary hardback. Notes and underlining in old ink in the margins of the text. Printer's device on the colophon, woodcut vignette on the title page. Latin text with initials, headers and end caps. Title page partially detached, with defects. Light water stain on the upper margin of the first 8 leaves. Finally, a handwritten index in old ink on 8 leaves. The Consolation of Philosophy is a treatise by Severinus Boethius on fortune, death and other questions, which became one of the most popular and influential works of the Middle Ages.
