Lutheran theologian (Altdorf 1592 - Nuremberg 1646). Catechist in Altdorf, he became (1618) deacon and professor at the gymnasium of his city; in Nuremberg he was deacon of St. Egidius (1622), first preacher of St. Theobald (1637) and municipal librarian. An orthodox Lutheran, his Zuchtbüchlein der evangelischen Kirche (1633) was one of the most effective textual works of the reform movement of his time. His correspondence with the major exponents of the theological world was very important.
