ATTACHED A TREATISE ON THE ANCIENT VERONESE CURRENCY, ETC. TOGETHER WITH OTHER USEFUL THINGS DRAWN FROM THE STATUTES OF THE SAME CITY. TO THE NOBLE MR DIONISIO NICHESOLA, PATRICIOUS OF VERONA. PART ONE AND SECOND. Verona, 1745-1749, for Dionisio Ramanzini, bookseller at San Tomio.
3 volumes, in 4ยฐ, 24x19 cm, p. XXIV, 324; XX, 352; [8], 388 with 5 illustrated plates outside the text, some of which are folded, typographical mark on the frontispieces; with headpieces, endpieces and large woodcut initials in the text. Contemporary half-leather bindings with pins, gold titles on the spine.
Fine edition accompanied by engraved plates (4 in the first vol. + 1 in the third vol.) depicting views of Verona, its most important historical buildings and its surroundings. The historical treatise by Pietro Zagata (15th century) is entirely dedicated to the history of Verona, with references to numismatics; equally interesting are the additions by GB Biancolini (1697-1780), which enrich the narrative with new sources and new anecdotes and make it an unmissable edition. Good copy with slight chalking at the edges of the papers due to ancient traces of humidity.
