A group of 3 anthropomorphic reliquaries, 19th century
Weight: 6185 g.
shaped like an arm, with the hand depicted in a gesture of blessing, and set on a stepped square base. This type of reliquary is called a speaking reliquary because its form reflects the nature of the relic contained within: in this case, likely a bone from the hand of the three saints.
The relic is housed in the section representing the sleeve, securely held in place by a cartouche bearing the names of the saints in order: Saint Andrew, Saint Matthew the Apostles, and Saint Agatha the Virgin and Martyr. The whole is protected by an oval plate of rock crystal, sealed with two wax seals.
Height x width x depth: 24 x 7 x 6 cm; height x width x depth: 25 x 7 x 5.5 cm; height x width x depth: 23.5 x 7 x 6 cm.
