A group of 5 German ivory carvings depicting a band of musicians, 19th century

resting on ebonised wood plinth bases and intent on playing various musical instruments: a man playing a trumpet, with a dynamic pose conveying the energy of the moment; a bassoon, in a slightly inclined position; a large tuba, rich in detail, evident in both instrument and clothing; another bassoon with a refined posture and a classical attitude, holding a large cylinder; a pipe, with a slightly relaxed pose, completing the variety of the group. The figures are reminiscent of the figurative repertoire typical of Nordic production, in particular German and Austrian, and wear detailed 19th century clothing: with well-tailored hats, jackets and trousers, typical of the period.
