in elephant ivory carved in the round (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797) and resting on plinth-like marble bases, depicting two of the four seasons: Summer and Autumn. Autumn is represented by a putto holding a bunch of grapes, symbolizing the harvest season, while wearing a short robe that emphasises the delicacy of the subject, typical of the depiction of children or young allegorical figures. Summer is depicted by a putto holding a sheaf of wheat, symbolizing the season of reaping, with simple clothing and an attitude that recall a sense of abundance and warmth.
