elephant ivory (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797). The scene on the left depicts a woman lying on a bed with a goat at the end of which two angels keep watch, while in the scene on the right the scene continues with the depiction of a gentleman surrounded by servants intent on entering the room where the woman lies.
