Ivory moles case, Continental Europe 19th century

Height x width x depth: 1 x 1.8 x 8 cm Weight: 14 g

of rectangular shape made of elephant ivory (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797) with a hinged lid and red velvet interior, was used as a container for moles.
