Georgian English sterling silver sauce boat, London mid-18th century

Height x width x depth: 12 x 20 x 10 cm. Weight: 295 g.
helmet-shaped with a scroll handle, resting on three hoof feet each adorned with foliate details, and decorated overall with floral and vegetal motifs.

Sterling silver, hallmarked with faintly legible marks used in London between 1740 and 1755, and bearing the mark of a silversmith likely identifiable as Richard Kersill (entered in 1744).
