Literature: A.D. Mougin was an important French watchmaker, active in the mid-19th century. He is documented as a watch manufacturer in the French region of Montbéliard, near the Swiss border, and also had a workshop on the Rue de Turenne in Paris. After winning two gold medals at exhibitions, he integrated this achievement into his brand name, marked ‘Deux Médailles’, usually engraved on the back of his watches.
