Pair of Chinese bone landscapes, early 20th century
The compositions are developed on two wooden bases, which serve as support and frame. The wood is used to represent twisted rocks and trees, suggesting a mountain or hillside scene, while carved bone is used to create human figures, natural elements and scenic details. On both pieces are small human figures carved in bone, depicted in static and meditative poses, probably sages or elders or wayfarers.
Height x width x depth first landscape: 12 x 17.8 x 8.2 cm;Height x width x depth second landscape: 9.5 x 18.4 x 8.4 cm.
