Under the direction of Alessandro Giovannini and Nicholas Papalotti, the department deals with that particular area of the decorative arts known as design, which focuses on mass-produced objects based on a project created by a designer.
The period covered begins in the second half of the 19th century, with the first experiments in quality industrial production, and stretches to the 20th century movements of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Post-War and the 2000s.
Our staff attends to the study, cataloguing, valuation and placement on the Italian and foreign markets of design objects on consignment, both for auction and in the form of private sale, the latter for pieces of particularly high economic and historical-artistic value. The department also offers a specialised appraisal service. A selection of objects in various price ranges that can be purchased off auction is always available at the department.
