1. How to participate
The auction will be held on 8 November 2024 starting at 2:30 p.m. CET at the headquarters of Bertolami Fine Arts S.r.l. in Piazza Lovatelli, 1 - Rome
The following methods of participation are envisaged: in person at the premises where the auction will be held, by telephoneonline after registering on our website www.bertolamifineart.com or on our partner portals (see list below), by written bid received by 12.00 CET on 8 November 2024.

a.Participation in the room
Unknown customers who have not already registered must be provided with a valid identity document.

b.Participation by telephone
It is possible to bid during the auction by telephone guided by one of our operators. In order to access this mode of participation, you will need to make a reservation by 12.00 CEST on Friday 8 November 2024 specifying the lots for which you intend to bid and a telephone number. Customers so booked will be called on the telephone number they have indicated a few lots before those for which they have expressed interest
The reservation for telephone participation has the value of a written offer at the auction base indicated in the catalogue.

d.Participation by written offer
You may also submit your bids in writing by filling in the proxy bid form or by free text. Written bids must be received by Bertolami Fine Arts no later than 12:00 CET on Friday 8 November 2024 and may be transmitted by e-mail (info@bertolamifineart.com), by post or delivered to our offices at Piazza Lovatelli 1 - 00186 Rome. The written offer has the value of an authorisation to the auctioneer to bid on behalf of the signatory.

3. Pre-auction bids
From the date of publication of the online catalogue until 12.00 CEST on Friday 8 November 2024 it will be possible to
- start bidding at www.bertolamifineart.com or on the partner portals as listed under of paragraph 1
- submit written offers as listed in point of paragraph 1
In the case of:
- a single pre-auction bid on a lot
and in the absence of bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded at the auction base even if the only bid received is higher (the amount of the pre-auction bid indicates in fact the maximum bid that the bidder is willing to make)
Example: Base bid € 1,000 - Single pre-auction bid € 1,500 - Awarded at € 1,000
- multiple pre-auction bids of the same amount on the same lot
and in the absence of re-bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the pre-bidder
- multiple pre-auction bids of different amounts on the same lot
and in the absence of bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the author of the highest bid at an allotment price calculated by adding to the amount of the next lowest bid a predetermined increase in the table published below (Table A)
Example: customer A bid €1,270, customer B bid €1,800. Customer B wins not at the winning price of €1,800 but at €1,370. That is the automatic increase of € 100 provided for in the table is applied to the amount of the immediately lower bid when bids are in the € 1,000-1,999 bracket.

4. Payment Methods
Buyers of the winning lots may choose from the following payment methods
- bank cheque or non-transferable bank draft made payable to Bertolami Fine Art s.r.l. (in the case of payment by foreign cheque add € 10 to the invoice amount)
- credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express);
- Paypal
- Bank transfer in favour of Bertolami Fine Art S.r.l.
(in the case of payment by non-European bank transfer add €10 to the invoice amount)
Please note: Invoices paid by cheque, cash or bank transfer are exempt from payment of the 3.5% administrative fee

5. Auction fees
The buyer shall pay Bertolami Fine Arts an auction fee of 23% of the adjudication price of each lot.
An additional commission shall be applied to lots purchased through online participation on the website www.bertolamifineart.com or on partner portals as follows:

Arsvalue + 1.5 % of the allotment price
Bidinside + 1.5 % of the allotment price
Bidspirit + 1.5 % of the hammer price

6. Additional costs
Shipping costs, any customs costs, as well as costs related to the paperwork to be instructed for the issuance of the certificate of Free Movement or any prior ministerial authorisation required for the export of the lots awarded shall be borne by the buyer.

If, due to unjustified disputes, the goods must be returned to Bertolami Fine Arts, customs and shipping costs shall be borne by the customer.

7. Issuance of the certificate of Free Circulation or other ministerial authorisation required for the export of the awarded goods
The delivery of lots outside the Italian borders may be subject to the rules established by the Code of Cultural Heritage (Legislative Decree 42/2004 and subsequent amendments and additions) on the export of goods of cultural interest. Therefore, in the event that the purchased good presents characteristics such as to require any form of ministerial authorisation for its definitive exit from the territory of the Italian Republic, the time required to issue such authorisation will be regulated by the Export of Antiquities and Art Objects Office of the Ministry of Culture.
These release times are calculated on average in the order of 60 to 90 days from the day the file is opened for a Attestato di Libera Circolazione (art. 68 of the Codice dei Beni Culturali) and 30 days for a Self-certification. The auction house declines all responsibility for any delays in closing the file, delays that can only be attributed to the competent ministerial authorities. The file is only opened once the payment for the goods has been made and the buyer has given his explicit authorisation.

8. Conditions of sale
The conditions of sale that regulate the relationship between Bertolami Fine Art and the kind customers who will take part in the auctions are published in each catalogue. Since they are considered automatically accepted from the moment of participation in the auction, please read them carefully

In the event of a discrepancy between the version of the conditions of sale published in the printed catalogue and that published in the online catalogue, the online version shall prevail.

9. Publication of auction results
The list of adjudications will be published by Bertolami Fine Arts on its website, www.bertolamifineart.com, for information purposes only, within ten days of the auction closing.

10. Arrangements for collecting the lots awarded
Arrangements for the delivery of the lots awarded shall be agreed with the head of the logistics office, Alessandra Tabacco: a.tabacco@bertolamifineart.com.
Collections at the premises are possible by appointment only.

11. Publication of auction results
The list of adjudications will be published by Bertolami Fine Arts on its website, www.bertolamifineart.com, for information purposes only, within ten days of the auction closing.

12. Returns
We do not accept returns on bulky lots (collections, accumulations, albums with brief photographic and/or video documentation in the auction catalogue) and lots belonging to the ‘’Lots and Collections‘’ section.

EXCELLENT quality. Very beautiful object, perfect in every part.

GOOD quality. Perfect object, quality within the norm.

SUFFICIENT quality. Object with a small imperfection which in our opinion cannot be considered as a defect and which does not affect the rarity of the piece: a heavy cancellation, a pair or a well margined strip with a single stamp having a flush margin or barely touched at one point, an application wrinkle for stamps kept on a document, a rubber wrinkle also visible on the front of the stamp, a small stain of yellowing, a heavy tab, letters with rare cancellations (where the value of the stamp has little bearing on the overall rarity of the item) franked with a stamp with a barely touched or grazed margin, tired paper or browned gum for new stamps.

B

INSUFFICIENT quality. Items with minor defects: a touched margin; non-negligible yellowing; a pinhole, a light spot, a slight crease.

C

POOR quality. Objects with several, even serious defects: Tears, very evident creases, several short margins, strong yellowing.
