The auction will be held on February 20th 2025 at 15:00 CET in Bertolami Fine Art headquarters in Piazza Lovatelli, 1 – Rome.

1. Participation Methods
The following participation methods are available: in person; by telephone; online upon registration on our website www.bertolamifineart.com, or on our partner portals (see list below); by a written absentee bid to be received by 1:00 pm CET on Thursday 20th February 2025.

a. In-person participation
Unregistered customers must provide a valid identity document.

b. Telephone participation
Bids can be placed during the auction by telephone, with the assistance of one of our operators. To participate by telephone, registration must be completed by 1:00 pm CET on Thursday 20th February, specifying the lots of interest and providing a contact number. Registered customers will be contacted via telephone at the number they have indicated a few lots before those for which they have expressed interest.
A telephone bid reservation has the value of a written absentee bid at the starting price indicated in the catalogue.

d. Written absentee bid participation
Bids can also be submitted in writing by filling out the bid form or through an e-mail, or a letter.
Written absentee bids may be sent by e-mail at info@bertolamifineart.com, by post, or must be delivered to our headquarters in Piazza Lovatelli, 1 – 00186 Roma.  All offers must be received by Bertolami Fine Art no later than 1:00 pm CET on Thursday 20th February.
A written absentee authorizes the auctioneer to make offers on behalf of the signatory.

2. Exhibition
The lots will be on display from 14 to 19 February, at the following hours:
  • February 15 - 16 February, 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm
  • February 14, 17 - 19 , 10:30 am - 1:30 pm / 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm
At the auction venue: Palazzo Caetani Lovatelli, Piazza Lovatelli 1, Rome.

3. Pre-auction bids
From the date of  the online catalogue's publication until 1:00 pm on Thursday 20th February, it will be possible to:
- submit bids on our website www.bertolamifineart.com, or through the partner portals as listed in point of paragraph 1
- book a phone bidding as described in point of paragraph 1
- submit a written absentee bid as described in point of paragraph 1

In the event of:
- A single pre-auction bid on a lot
If there are no bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded at the starting bid even if the sole bid received is higher (the amount of the pre-auction bid indicates the maximum bid the bidder is willing to place.
Example: Starting bid € 1,000 – Single pre-auction bid € 1,500 – Awarded at € 1,000.
- Multiple pre-auction bids of the same amount on the same lot
If there are no bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the earlier bidder.
- Multiple pre-auction pre-bids of different amounts on the same lot
If there are no bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the highest bidder. The hammer price is calculated by adding a pre-set increment (as per Table A below) to the next highest bid. 
Example: Bidder A offers € 1,270 - Bidder B offers € 1,800. Bidder B wins, but the award price is € 1,370 as an automatic increment of €100 is applied to the next highest bid (€1,270) within the €1,000-1,999 range.

4. Payment methods
- Non-transferable bank or cashier’s check payable to Bertolami Fine Art S.r.l. (for foreign checks, add €10 to the invoice amount);
- Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express);
- PayPal;
- Bank transfer to Bertolami Fine Art S.r.l. (for extra-European transfers, add €10 to the invoice amount).


Please note: invoices paid via check, cash or bank transfer are exempt from paying administrative fees, otherwise due for payments made by credit card (+ 1.5%) or Paypal (+3,5%).

5. Auction fees
The buyer agrees to pay Bertolami Fine Art a commission calculated as a percentage of the hammer price. The percentage shall be calculated as follows:
  • 28% of the hammer price up to and including € 10.000;
  • 26% of that part of the hammer price over € 10.000 and up to and including € 400.000;
  • 24% of that part of the hammer price above € 400.000.

An additional commission will be applied for online purchases made through:
  • Bertolami Fine Art + 1,5 % of the hammer price
  • Arsvalue  no fees
  • BidInside +2,5% of the hammer price 
  • Bidspirit + 1,5 % of the hammer price
  • One Bid + 1,5 % of the hammer price
  • Drouot + 3 % of the hammer price
  • Invaluable + 5 % of the hammer price
  • LiveAuctioneers + 5 % of the hammer price
  • The Saleroom + 3 % of the hammer price

6. Additional costs
Shipping costs, any customs duties, and costs related to obtaining the Free Circulation Certificate or any other ministerial authorization required for the export of awarded lots are borne by the buyer. If items are returned to Bertolami Fine Art due to unwarranted disputes, all customs and shipping costs will be charged to the client.

7. Free Circulation Certificate or Other Export Authorization
The delivery of lots outside Italy may be subject to the Cultural Heritage Code (Legislative Decree 42/2004 and subsequent amendments) regarding the export of cultural property. If the acquired item requires ministerial authorization for permanent export, the issuance timeframe will be determined by the Ministry of Culture's Export Office.
Issuance times are typically:
  • 60/90 days from application submission for an Export License (ALC) Article 68 of the Cultural Heritage Code;
  • 30 days for a Self-Certification (DVAL) a declaration for the export of works of art over 70 years old with a value of less than € 13,500.
Bertolami Fine Art assumes no responsibility for any delays attributable solely to the competent authorities. Applications are processed only after full payment and upon the buyer’s explicit authorization.

8. Conditions of Sale
The conditions of sale that govern the relationship between Bertolami Fine Art and the customers are displayed in each catalogue. As participation in the auction implies acceptance of these terms, bidders are advised to read them carefully. In case of discrepancies between the printed catalogue and the online catalogue, the online version prevails.

9. Auction Results Publication
For informational purposes, the list of awarded lots will be published on www.bertolamifineart.com within ten days of the auction's conclusion.

10. Collection of Awarded Lots
The collection of awarded lots must be arranged with the logistics manager, Alessandra Tabacco: a.tabacco@bertolamifineart.com.
Collection from our warehouse is available by appointment only.
